Flooring Installation: What to Expect from Start to Finish

The process is simpler than you think

One of the biggest barriers to new flooring is uncertainty about the process. Here's exactly what happens when you choose Floors Adelaide, from first contact to finished floors.

Step 1: Initial consultation

Call us, email, or fill in our online quote form. Tell us roughly what you're after — the type of flooring, which rooms, and your budget range. We'll discuss options and either invite you to our Cheltenham warehouse to see products in person or arrange an onsite visit.

Step 2: Free measure and quote

Dean will visit your home at a time that suits you, measure every room accurately, assess your subfloor condition, discuss any potential issues (moisture, height transitions, door clearances), and help finalise your product selection. You'll receive a detailed written quote within 24 – 48 hours covering:

• Product supply (per m²)

• Installation labour

• Underlay if required

• Transition strips and accessories

• Any subfloor preparation needed

• Furniture removal if required

• Old flooring removal and disposal

No hidden extras. The quote price is the installed price.

Step 3: Product ordering

Once you approve the quote and pay the deposit (typically 50%), we order your product. Lead times vary:

• In-stock products: 3 – 5 business days

• Standard orders: 1 – 3 weeks

• Special orders: 3 – 6 weeks

Step 4: Installation day

Our licensed installation team will: 1. Protect your home (dust sheets, door covers) 2. Remove old flooring if included 3. Prepare the subfloor (level, clean, apply moisture barrier) 4. Install your new flooring 5. Fit transition strips, scotia, and finishing touches 6. Clean up thoroughly

Typical timeframes:

• Single room: 1 day

• Three rooms: 1 – 2 days

• Whole home: 2 – 4 days

Step 5: Final inspection

Walk through with the installer to check everything meets your expectations. We'll provide care and maintenance instructions specific to your product.

Warranty and aftercare

All products carry manufacturer warranties (typically 10 – 25 years residential). Installation workmanship is guaranteed. If anything isn't right, call us — we'll sort it out.
